Rev Benton

The Founder

Rev Benton, formally the Most Reverend Benton Opene-Luxington, is an author, spiritual teacher, and recording artist known as BENTON. A British-Nigerian voice in contemporary Christian mystical teaching, he is the founder of The Rev Benton Experience, of Celestial University, and of Stillness Code, three distinct works within one body of teaching.

At Celestial University he serves as Founder and Presiding Voice: the curriculum of the 33 Gates is composed, taught, and sealed under his direct authorship, and every Gate carries his recorded teaching.

Why Celestial University Exists

Celestial University was created out of a conviction that serious Christian mystical formation deserves the structure of a school: ordered study, disciplined daily practice, honest self-examination, and accountable progression. Where much spiritual teaching arrives as scattered content, the University arranges formation as a deliberate path, 33 Gates across three Degrees, each one building the maturity, discernment, and spiritual leadership the next requires.

The aim is not information but transformation: students keep a rule of life, work through workbooks and reflection, and attest to what has actually been formed in them before a new Gate opens.

Institutional Philosophy

The University holds a few commitments plainly. It is education rather than entertainment: teaching is measured by what it forms, not by how it performs. It is formation rather than content consumption: the pace is deliberate, the practices are kept daily, and progression is earned by completed work. And it is responsible spiritual leadership: claims are made carefully, guardrails are taught alongside practices, and students are formed before they are entrusted.

Celestial University is a private online school of spiritual formation. Its Degrees are stages of formation within its own curriculum, and its certificates are institutional records of completed study. It does not claim government accreditation or academic degree-awarding status.

The Wider Work

Celestial University stands within a larger body of work. The Rev Benton Experience is the founding platform for Rev Benton's teaching, writing, and music, including his books and his recordings as BENTON. Stillness Code extends the same teaching into the practice of stillness. Each work keeps its own house; all of them proceed from one voice.
